Article 244. Assault on the bodies of the deceased and their places of burial

1. Abuse of dead bodies or destruction, damage or desecration of burial sites, lavatory structures or graveyard buildings intended for burial ceremonies shall be punished by a fine of up to 40,000 rubles or by wages or otherwise, except as provided for in articles 243.4 of the present Code. the convicted person ' s income for a period of up to three months, or compulsory work for up to three hundred and sixty hours, or punitive labour for up to one year, or arrest for up to three metres 2. The same acts committed by: (a) a group of persons, a group of persons by prior conspiracy or an organized group; (b) for political, ideological, racial, national or religious reasons Conspicuity of hatred or enmity or hatred against a social group; (c) with the use or threat of violence, shall be punishable by restriction of liberty. a For a period of up to three years, either by forced labour for a period of up to five years, or by arrest for a period of between three and six months, or by imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
