Article 295. Assault on the life of a person carrying out a judicial or preliminary investigation

Assault on the life of a judge, juror or other person involved in the administration of justice, prosecutor, investigator, person conducting an initial inquiry, defence counsel, expert, specialist or coroner of the enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation, as well as of their relatives, in connection with the examination of cases or materials before a court, the conduct of preliminary investigations or the execution of a subrogation The penalty shall be deprivation of liberty for the purpose of obstructing the lawful activities of the persons concerned or of revenge for such activities. In addition, the Committee notes that the State party has not provided any information on the number of persons who have been deprived of their liberty for up to 12 to 20 years, with a restriction of their liberty for up to two years, either by life imprisonment or by the death penalty.
