Article 640: Liability for damage caused by a vehicle

The lessor shall be liable for damage caused to third parties by the leased vehicle, its machinery, devices, equipment in accordance with the rules provided for in this Regulation. He is entitled to make a claim against the lessee for damages paid to third parties if he proves that the damage was caused by the lessee.
