Article 1273 Free reproduction of work for personal purposes
1. It is permissible, without the consent of the author or other right holder and without payment of remuneration, to reproduce, if necessary and solely for personal purposes, a legally published production Food, except: (1) the reproduction of works of architecture in the form of buildings and similar structures; (2) the reproduction of databases or their essential parts, except as provided for; and Articles 12 to 80 of the present Code; (3) reproduction of computer programmes, except in the cases provided for in articles 12 to 80 of the present Code; (4) reproduction of books (full) and notary texts (art. 1275), i.e. by fax, by any technical means other than for the purpose of publication; (5) video recording of the audio-visual work carried out in public at the place, a place where a large number of persons are present outside the normal family circle; (6) the reproduction of an audio-visual work by means of a profession 2. Where the reproduction of phonograms and audio-visual works is for personal purposes only the authors, performers and manufacturers of phonograms and audio-visual works are entitled to the remuneration provided for in article 1245 of the present Code.
