Article 1340: Period of validity of the exclusive right of the publisher to produce

1. The exclusive right of the publisher to produce the work arises at the time of the publication of the work and is valid for twenty-five years, counting as of 1 January of the year following its publication. 2. After the termination of the exclusive right of the publisher, the work may be freely used by any person without the consent or authorization of any person and without payment of remuneration.
