Article 1148: Succession by dependents who are unable to work
1. Citizens who are heirs under the law referred to in articles 1143 to 1145 of the present Code are unable to work on the day of the opening of the inheritance but are not part of the succession of the line of succession. Called to inherit, inherit by law together with and on an equal basis with the heirs of that line, if at least one year before the death of the heir were dependent on him, regardless of whether he or she lived with him or her. 2. The heirs shall be citizens who are not among the heirs referred to in articles 1142 to 1145 of the present Code, but who shall appear on the date of the opening of the inheritance. And those who were unable to work, and at least a year before the death of the heir, were dependent on him and lived with him. 3. In the absence of any other heirs under the law, the non-working dependants of the inheritor shall inherit themselves, as specified in paragraph 2 of the present article.
