Article 869. Non-revocable letter of credit

1. An irrevocable letter of credit may not be cancelled by the issuing bank without the consent of the recipient of the funds and the bank confirming the letter of credit. 2. In order to modify or cancel an irrevocable letter of credit on behalf of the payer, the issuing bank must notify the recipient accordingly. 3. If the letter of credit has been confirmed by another bank (art. 870), such bank is entitled to disagree with the withdrawal. 4. Accreditation shall be irrevocable unless otherwise provided in the text.
