Article 84. Amnesty

1. The amnesty is declared by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in respect of an individual undefined group of persons. Persons convicted of crimes may be exempted from punishment or their sentence may be reduced or replaced by a higher penalty. In the case of persons who have served their sentence, an amnesty may be removed from their criminal record.
