Article 254. Division of joint property and allocation of shares

The division of common property among participants in joint property, as well as the allocation of the share of one of them, may be effected after the prior determination of the share of each participant in the right to 2. In the division and allocation of shares of common property, unless otherwise provided by law or agreement of the parties, their shares shall be recognized as equal. 3. The provisions of articles 252 of the present Code apply to his property and his share thereof, insofar as no other is prescribed by this Code for certain types of joint property. The law does not derive from the substance of the relationship between the parties to the joint property.
