Article 1227: Intellectual rights and property rights

1. Intellectual rights are independent of ownership and other property rights over the tangible medium (matter) in which the result of the intellectual activity or means is expressed. 2. The transfer of ownership of a property does not involve the transfer or granting of intellectual rights to the result of intellectual activity or to the means of individualization, 3. The provisions of section II of the present Code shall not apply to intellectual rights, except as provided for in article 1291, paragraph 1, of the present Code. The rules of this section do not otherwise apply.
